Message of the XXVIIth General Chapter

Rooted in Jesus Christ,
at the heart of the Church
and aware of the changing realities of our world,
we, the members of the 27^th General Chapter,
inspired by the charism of Marie Rivier
and eager to widen our vision to the challenges of today,
embrace the following pathways:

To renew our understanding of the vows in relationship to the spirituality of creation and ecology, social justice and technology, drawing from our vows a new vitality and making of our lives “an open Gospel.”

To expand our charism of education to the contemporary needs of society in order to evangelize our world and bring about the Kingdom.

To unfold the gift of our internationality, seeking to welcome our differences and to share the richness of our intercultural and intergenerational realities, in order to strengthen the bonds of our Presentation of Mary Family and to open our hearts to the world.

With Marie Rivier,
woman passionate for Jesus Christ,
woman educator,
woman moving forward,
let us celebrate our unity
and be prophets and mystics for our time.

With the Virgin Mary,
attentive to the inspiration of the Spirit,
let us move forward impelled by the newness of God.

Today, at the conclusion of our General Chapter, we reach out to all of you on the web, to thank you for your prayers, your messages, you trust.

Together, on our way, with Jesus Christ

This forenoon, we met to hear the message of our Superior general, Mother Angèle.

Conscious of our responsibility as delegates, we have become aware of the realities of our world, we have searched for the commitments to take, as a group, to be faithful to our mission as educators and as consecrated women in the changing context and different challenges of society and of our milieu in particular.

Together, we strived to remain in touch with the Spirit, with all that this represents of availability, of stripping and of a daring new start in faith…

At 11 o’clock, we are gathered in the chapel for the celebration of the conclusion of the Chapter.

The message of the Chapter is proclaimed in the five languages of our assembly. The message speaks of the main orientations:

To reread the vows while faced with the realities of today’s world.

To open our charism of education, to the new needs of society to make the world more

human and to bring about the Kingdom.

To expand the gift of our internationality.

Then Mother Angèle calls the Sisters from each of the four continents and sends them forth for the mission. That each one of us may be “Good News” for our sisters. Together, with a fervent love, we will continue with them, the works started by our predecessors for your glory and the salvation of the world.
